We need to understand culture’s impact on our instincts and default beliefs.

Like so many things after the fall, some elements of God’s original intentions remain in the cultures in which we are immersed, but some fallen aspects of our culture also have a devastating effect on our inner life and relationships.

However, it is difficult to see our own cultural tendencies; they are the very air we breathe.
